The iPad doesn’t See the Apple Pencil – What Do I Do?
On September 18, 2021 by Coleen LewisWhat should you do if your iPad can’t see Apple Pencil? Here’s how to do it.
Is the Apple Pencil not responding in apps, disappearing from the notification center, or refusing to turn on at all? There may be several different answers to all of these common questions that will help you solve the problem.
First of all, you should determine which iPad models the Apple Stylus will be compatible with.
The first Apple Pencil will work with:
iPad Pro: 12.9″ (first and second generation), 10.5″ and 9.7″
iPad (6th-8th generation)
iPad Air 3
iPad mini 5
The second Apple Pencil will work with:
12.9″ iPad Pro 3rd generation and newer
iPad Air 4
11″ first generation iPad Pro and newer
When you’ve determined that the stylus is exactly compatible with your iPad model and it still doesn’t work, it’s worth looking into other possible causes.
Check the connection between the Apple Pencil and iPad
To connect the first Apple Pencil, you need to remove the cap from the stylus and plug it into the Lightning connector.
To connect the second Apple Pencil, attach the stylus to the magnetic connector on the right side of the iPad.
Check to see if the Apple Pencil is charged.
It may sound too simple to be true, but your Apple Pencil’s batteries might just be running low.Plug your Apple Pencil into a charger and leave it there for at least an hour. Once you’ve done that, try using it again. If that fails, try charging it from a different charging source, such as another iPad.
Reconnect the Apple Pencil
The stylus may have just lost Pairing with the iPad, so reconnecting it may solve the problem.
Open the Bluetooth settings and find the Apple Pencil in the list.
Open the blue icon and click “Forget Device”.
Afterwards, recreate the pairing.
Replace the stylus tip
The tip can be another reason why the Apple Pencil is unstable or doesn’t work at all. After a while, it rubs off and then the stylus does not work well. The problem can be solved by replacing the tip.You can buy them both in the original packaging from Apple and for example from the manufacturer COTEetCI.
Is the Apple Pencil broken?
If the stylus has visible damage, it may not connect to the iPad. Unfortunately, it is unlikely to be possible to fix such a device. So be prepared to buy a new one, thankfully, there are many budget alternatives on the market now.
If none of the above steps to solve your problem did not help, then in this case, you need to contact the service center iLab, so the masters checked iPad.
