How do you tell if someone is cheating on you

Since you can’t observe the behavior of the person you’re talking to on the phone, how to tell if someone is lying on the phone is proving to be a difficult task. But it can be done. Just focus on certain verbal patterns. You can try it on a salesman who pesters you a lot. Or you can try it on your cheating spouse if you think he’s making excuses, letting you know he’s coming home late.
Here are three basic tips on how to tell if a person is cheating
Determine a baseline of behavior of cheating person.
This is easy if you are dealing with your spouse. You know exactly how he behaves when he is cheating and when he tells the truth. Use that to your advantage. If it’s someone you don’t know, strike up a conversation with them on neutral topics first.
Pay close attention to the choice of words and tone.
This is baseline behavior, that is, how the person behaves when they have no incentive to tell an untruth. If you hear a significant deviation from this basic tone and syntax, there is a good chance that he is untruthful.
Watch for anxiety
- It manifests as silence, although you may also pause briefly when speaking the truth. To confirm your suspicions that the person is really lying to you, do the following: ask a specific question that requires a “yes” or “no” answer. If the answer begins with “well,” then something is wrong.
- Listen to the filler words. If the person talking to you on the phone uses a lot of filler words (“um,” “ah,” “uh,” “uh-huh,” etc.), it’s likely that they are formulating a lie and they are having difficulty doing so. But this does not apply to a person who has difficulty speaking the language (e.g., a foreigner).
